Preparing for Fall Holidays
There’s something about the shift toward fall that feels quiet — but loaded.
Even before the leaves begin to change, I can sometimes feel it in my body. The anticipation. The subtle anxiety. The awareness that religious holidays are approaching again.
For a long time, this season triggered tension before anything even happened.
Old memories. Old dynamics. Old expectations.
Fall used to feel like bracing myself.
But healing has taught me that preparation doesn’t have to mean panic. It can mean reflection. It can mean intention. It can mean choosing how I want to enter the next season of my life.
This month, I’m slowing down.
Instead of reacting, I’m reflecting.
Two affirmations are guiding me:
Affirmation to Release: "I release anxiety about upcoming religious holidays.”
Anxiety used to whisper worst-case scenarios in my mind. How will this go? What will they say? Will I have to defend myself again? Will I feel small again?
But I am not the same person I was.
Releasing anxiety doesn’t mean ignoring my feelings — it means refusing to let imagined outcomes control my present peace. I trust that I now have the strength, boundaries, and wisdom to navigate what comes.
I have survived difficult seasons before. I have grown. I have tools now.
Letting go of anticipatory fear is a gift I give myself.
Affirmation to Receive: "I receive peace and confidence as I evolve my traditions.”
This is what evolution looks like in real time.
Instead of dreading what’s ahead, I’m asking myself: What do I want this season to feel like? What traditions still resonate — and which ones feel outdated or harmful?
I am allowed to evolve my rituals.
Maybe that means limiting my time at certain gatherings. Maybe it means creating a completely new tradition that feels grounding. Maybe it means taking a personal retreat day — a quiet reset before the noise begins.
This month, I’m planning intentional self-care. A day just for me. Journaling. Rest. Reflection. Re-centering. And as I do, I notice something powerful:
Peace grows when preparation is rooted in self-trust.
Fall will come. Holidays will arrive. Conversations will happen. But I no longer enter the season unarmed. I enter it aware. Intentional. Grounded.
If the approaching holidays stir anxiety in you, please remember:
You are not powerless. You are not the same version of yourself who felt trapped before. You are allowed to prepare in ways that protect your peace.
Traditions can evolve. You can evolve.
And as you do, so can the seasons of your life.
Still reflecting. Still becoming. Still shining. 🍁
